Leagues
Basics
You can either pick a league to join, or create your own. There are two types of leagues:
1) Private
2) Public
Private
You can only join a private league by being invited by someone in the league OR requesting permission to join from the commissioner. If you create a private league you will get to set the passcode and do the inviting.
Public
Anyone can join a public league without needing an invite or a passcode.
The Season / Timing ...
Pre-Season
The league has just been created and is still awaiting more users to join it. During this time each user that has joined will set up their draft pool in preparation for the draft. The league commissioner can extend the Pre-Season as needed to wait for more people to join, or to allow people more time to set their draft pools.
* If your league is using the Offline Draft option you won't need to set the draft pool.
Picking your scoring sources
The most important part of the pre-season is choosing your scoring sources. Fafarazzi pulls in gossip posts from over 30 of today's top gossip and entertainment blogs. Prior to your draft you can change which blogs you want to use for scoring. You can choose as many or as few as you like.
Fafarazzi will set your league up with a default 10 recommended blogs for your league, which you can change. Browse around recent scores to check out posts from all the blogs and to get a feel for which ones you like. Strike up a conversation in your league discussion board about which ones everyone wants to use. Your league's commissioner has access to change the scoring sources prior to the season starting.
Read some important tips about picking your sources
Setting the max scoring cap
The max scoring cap is the maximum number of points that any one celebrity can score in one day. (Calendar day, not the last 24 hours). This feature helps limit celebrities that are over-posted by the blogs and therefore creates a more fair and more fun season.
You can choose to set this at whatever level you want. We recommend you set it at roughly 80% of the number of sources you are using. (ie. set at 8 if you are using 10 blogs). The right level will vary depending on the sources that you use and how often they post. After a celeb reaches the cap in a given day any posts about them will not be scored. They will be eligible to score again the next day at 8am EST. Your league's commissioner has access to change the max cap prior to the season starting.
Draft
The draft is the process that puts celebrities on teams. Their are two options for your league's draft.
1) Auto Draft (this is the default and easiest option)
2) Offline Draft (sometimes referred to as Live Draft)
1) Auto Draft
Each team manager within a league will set their draft pool in the pre-season. The draft occurs automatically right before the season starts. It picks a random order and uses each team's draft pool to determine who to put on their team. The draft will give the team the highest ranking celebrity who has not already been chosen... and then go to the next team. Read more about drafting.
2) Offline Draft
The Offline Draft option is perfect for groups that want to hold a draft party. It allows you to get together (in person, or virtually) and hold your own draft. The league's commissioner will have access to the necessary print outs and forms to get things rolling. After the draft the commissioner enters in the results and your season starts.
Season In Progress
This is when scoring takes place! The season is the longest part and can be a short as 3 weeks and as long as 12 weeks. Each day, Fafarazzi scorekeepers take in celebrity gossip events and give them a score. If that celebrity is on your team, you get points. Each team gets points from their celebrities and at the end of the season the team with the most points wins the league.

Post-Season
This indicates that the season is over and all scoring is done. You can still view final standings of past leagues to see who won & who lost. The league page will display trophy winners.
League Roles
There are three league roles
1) Commissioner
2) Admin
3) Manager
Comissioner
This is the creator of the league. The commissioner can edit the description, change the season start date (before the season starts), invite new members, upgrade the league, and change the roles of other members. The commissioner will also manage a team of celebrities, just like everyone else in the league. The commsisioner has access to change the draft option, change scoring sources and set the max scoring cap.
Admin
The admin, in private leagues, can also invite other members. Admins will also manage teams of celebrities, just like everyone else in the league.
Manager
A manager simply manages a team of celebrities. Everyone in a league is a manager, some just have more administrative privileges.
Drafting
Auto Draft
1 Pick out celebs for your Draft Pool
You pick out a bunch of celebs you like and rank them in order of preference. This is the order that the auto-draft will grab them for your team
2 Fafarazzi runs the draft
When your league's draft date is here the system will take all the teams in your league and randomize the draft order. It's luck of the draw.
It will then go from team to team and look at their draft pool. Whatever celebrity is ranked highest on their draft pool that is not already snagged by another team in the league gets placed on their team.
The draft order reverses itself after each round, to stay fair.
For example…
| Round
1 Team A Team B Team C Team D |
Round
2 Team D Team C Team B Team A |
Round 3... Team A Team B Team C Team D |
And so on through the 10th Round...
After each team has 10 celebrities, the draft is over and you will be notified that the season has started!
FAQs
Q. How many celebs do I get on my team?
A. 10, but you should draft more than that in case you don’t get
all 10 of your top picks. You should probably fill your draft pool with
roughly the number of teams in your league x 10. Example… you
are in a league with 3 friends, so there will be 40 celebrities, total.
You should add around 30-40 celebrities to your draft pool
Q. What if I don’t fill the draft pool enough?
Fafarazzi will be nice to you! If you run out of celebs in your draft
pool the system will give you the highest-scoring available celeb. You can
always swap celebs in and out after the season starts if you end up
with someone you hate.
Offline Draft
The Offline Draft option is perfect for groups that want to hold a draft party. It allows you to get together (in person, or virtually) and hold your own draft. The league's commissioner will have access to the necessary print outs and forms to get things rolling. After the draft the commissioner enters in the results and your season starts.
Commissioners - look for the Edit League link. You'll be able to change the draft option there. Also, you can set the draft date & place. A new link will appear to allow you to "Manage your offline draft." This page will give you step by step instructions on how to run a great draft. We give you links to print-outs with every celebrity on them and their score totals - to help out with the draft. You'll also get a printout form for recording the results while you run the draft. After the draft you'll use the online form to enter the results. It checks for you to make sure there are no duplicates.
Scoring
Scoring is so fun we made a whole other page to show you how it works:
How Scoring Works
Teams
Each league, typically, has up to 12 teams and as few as 2 teams.
You can swap celebrities in and out during the season, as long as they are not already on another team in your league. You will only get points for things your celebs do while on your team, not for anything they've done before you got them.
Also, you won't lose points that you already earned if you swap someone off of your team for a new celebrity.
Teams compete against each other and are controlled by Managers
Celebrities
Celebrity Heat Factor
The Heat Index tells you who is hot and who is not -- based on how many times that celeb has been added or dropped from teams in the last 7 days.| Cold - Being dropped off of teams more than being added to teams | |
| Neutral - No recent activity or adds are equal to drops | |
| Hot - Being added to teams more than being dropped off of teams |

Adding Celebs To Your Team (Swap)
After your season has started you can add and drop celebs from your team as long as another team in your league does not already have that celeb. Just look for the "Add to my team" button on the celeb's profile. Also, look for the 'add celebs' link when you are logged in to see a list of available celebs within your league.Feeds
For example, you could subscribe to the Scores feed and stay up to date on all Fafarazzi scoring without having to visit the site. You could also subscribe to the scores feed just for your individual league - it will keep you posted on who's scoring in your league.
